Carefree Theater in the El Cid neighborhood has stood ready for redevelopment and today, the developer of the project established a timeline as to when they expect to break ground and complete the new project. Local residents of the El Cid neighborhood have voiced their concerns with initial plans for the site but the developer listened to the locals and has scaled back the project to include fewer apartments and to scale down the project. The developer has plans for two restaurants on the ground floor, an underground garage as well as movie theaters.
During a breakfast meeting at The Breakers this morning, the developer said that they look to break ground in the early part of next year with a completion date of 2022. His goal is to develop and create a building that looks like it’s always been there.
